2/4 Single Match |
Your choice tells Golfsort whether you want 2, 3 or 4 golfers per group.
The number is either explicit as in "4 sex" or implicit as in "XX" or "XXXX".
Your choice also specifies what mix of
handicaps, sexes and/or cart ownership you want in each group.
2/4 is a two person team or match playing in a foursome. |
The first choices are primarily for Team Stroke Play, the last ones for Match Play.
'XXXX' gives the best chance of having new golfers in your group every time. 'AAXX' gives fairly evenly matched foursomes while letting everyone play with everyone. 'Similar Hcp' is for clubs that "get a game" for members. Every member plays with different golfers each time. Golfers with handicaps similar to his/her own. For Match Play the choices are all equally good. Pick the one best suited to your event. For mixed golf or to maximize the use of owners' carts, use 'Sex, Sex/Hcp, Cart or Cart/Hcp'. |
The signup list is sorted by handicap. Players at the low end are "low handicappers". At the high end are "high handicappers". There is no absolute handicap range for an A,B,C or D player, it depends on who signs up. |
Players are paired with no regard for handicap, sex or cart ownership. Golfsort can do its best to pair players who have never played together before. |
The signup list is sorted by handicap. The signup list is then divided into as many equal sections as there are players in a group. Each group must contain one player from each section. This choice gives the most evenly competitive groups. But there's a price: No 'A' players ever play together. The same is true for 'B', 'C' and 'D' players. |
The signup list is sorted by handicap. The signup list is then divided into two unequal sections. The 'A' section is the 1/3 or 1/4 with the lowest handicaps. The 'X' section is the remainder. Each group must contain one player from the 'A' section. The other players come from the 'X' section. |
The signup list is sorted by handicap. The signup list is then divided into two sections. The 'A' section is the 2/3 or 1/2 with the lowest handicaps. The 'X' section is the remainder. Each group must contain two players from the 'A' section. The other players come from the 'X' section. |
The signup list is sorted by handicap. The signup list is then divided into three sections. The 'A' section is the 1/4 with the lowest handicaps. The 'B' section is the 1/4 with the next lowest handicaps. The 'X' section is the remainder. Each group contains one 'A' player, one 'B' player and two 'X' players. |
Each group is made up of golfers with similar handicaps. Trying to pair different golfers each time, but always of similar handicaps is obviously a compromise situation. The larger the group, the better this can be accomplished. Preassigned partners are treated as if each had a handicap equal to the partnership average. |
Groups are paired trying to have the same number of men (women) in each group. |
Groups are paired trying to have the same number of men (women) in each group and also to have a mix of low and high handicap players in each group. This makes the teams more even than '3,4 Sex', but low (high) handicap players of the same sex may never get to play together. |
Players are assigned based on cart ownership, trying to have enough carts in each group for its players. |
Players are assigned based on cart ownership, trying to have enough carts in each group for its players and also to have a mix of low and high handicap players in each group. This makes the teams more even than 3,4 Cart, but low (high) handicap owners (non-owners) may never get to play together. |
